Description:
The course lasts for five days, consisting of four days classroom activities and the fifth day within the workplace, where the student will be assessed by our assessor whilst giving a detailed practical training session to staff. Final certification will be dependant on a multi-choice paper, the assessment of the training session and completion of a portfolio. The course includes:
- Manual Handling Operations Regulations
- Risk assessment of people moving and handling
- Why back injuries occur
- Care of the back
- Techniques for moving people
- Techniques for using people moving equipment
- Requirements for making lifting policies
- Train the Trainer, including lesson planning
- presenting a lesson & student assessment
- Completion of a portfolio
- Assessment of a classroom based theory lecture
- Assessment of a workplace based practical lesson
Who Should Attend?
The course is open to anyone who has role in moving and handling people within the care industry and has been appointed as a Back Care Advisor or Supervisor. Examples include nurses, nurse managers, physiotherapists, occupational health workers, care staff in nursing homes or care support workers who visit clients own homes.
